Why is the HT50 marketed for patients <10 kg patients even though it has pressure controlled ventilation?
The HT50 Ventilator must generate its own compressed air flow at the same time that it controls the gas flow to the patient therefore will not have the same breath management refinement as a ventilator like the Newport Wave E200 that manages gas flow delivery without making its own compressed air.Newport made the choice to apply for approval to market the HT50 for patients >10 Kg because the breath management that requires the finest level of control is low flow breath delivery to very small patients such as patients <10 Kg.
