HT50

How will an inline pneumatic medication nebulizer (powered by an external flow source) affect patient ventilation?

Volume Control · The tidal volume to the patient will increase by the amount of flow that is being added via the nebulizer. · To compensate for the extra flow during the treatment, decrease your Volume Control, tidal volume until the calculated flow display indicates a decrease in value equal to the flow from the nebulizer. Example, if you are running the nebulizer at 8 L/min and the calculated flow displayed on the HT50 = 40 L/min, you would reduce the VT (tidal volume) until the calculated flow = 32 L/min. 32 + 8 = 40 L/minPressure Control and Pressure Support· HT50 will decrease its flow output to compensate for the flow that is being added via the nebulizer. Note: HT50 may not be able to adequately compensate for the nebulizer flow on small pediatric patients or when Pressure Control tI is > 1.0 seconds.
