HT50

How is volume measured?

The flow/volume measurement is derived from 3 factors: direct measurement of the dual micro-piston movement, a pressure factor and a volume factor. The flow calibration prepares the HT50 to know the flow/volume generated with each stroke of the dual micro-pistons. But since gas is compressible, the value representing the volume generated must be adjusted for the amount of pressure rise in the circuit during inspiration. This is where the pressure calibration comes into play. The pressure calibration guarantees that the proximal pressure used to adjust volume for compressibility is accurate – so the displayed volumes are accurate.
